Taxonomy of Reflection
Description
Remembering:
What did I want, do, feel, and think?
What did the student(s) want, do, feel, and think?
this lesson focused on allowing the students to create a food web individually. I wanted the students to be able to work with little scaffolding to complete the activity. Most of the students were able to do this. This assignment was tiered so that each student could work on the concept they were struggling with. Overall this lesson went very well and the students were able to demonstrate what they know about energy roles and food webs.
Understanding:
What was important about it?
For me? For the student(s)? For both of us?
this activity was the first time the students created there own food web. It was important to see what the students are struggling with in order to correct some misconceptions. These misconceptions can be addressed before the formal assessment.
Applying:
Where can I use this again?
this activity can be used again in any food web, food chain, or energy cycle unit.
Analyzing:
Do I see any patterns in what I did?
the students inthe lower tier needed more help with the assignment. I am not sure if this is because of lack of knowledge or self efficacy.
Evaluating:
What was effective and what was not effective?
having the students cut out The organism and physically put them inthe food web served as a great visual. Next time I will change the template, it was a little confusing because I tried to fit it on paper that was too small.
Creating:
What could I do next?
the template will be changed and I will probably switch up the organisms. I will also allow the students who really know the material to do it without a template.
